| Summary | 0001443: Channel Ban List doesn't show the host of the user who set the ban. | ||||
| Description | Hi. I tested the new ban types, and noticed, that UNREAL doesn't show the host of the user, who set the ban. As example: *** Rocko sets mode: +b blah!*@* /mode #Help b #Help blah!*@* set by Rocko (Sun Dec 21 13:36:33) #Help End of Channel Ban List When you do the same on bahamut, you get the following: * Rocko sets mode: +b blah!*@* /mode #Test1234 b #Test1234 blah!*@* set by [email protected] (Sun Dec 21 13:56:34) #Test1234 End of Channel Ban List I have tested it with mIRC6.03(without any script) and compared it with bahamut, because my Script (mIRC6.03 + PnP4.22) shows the host on unreal too, but only when you are there when the ban is set, and when you rejoin, the information is gone, so there is only the nick, who set it. I think Unreal doesn't support that, but the script do, so it get mixed. Or is it a bug? And when not, can it be added? Thx anyway ;) | ||||

Oh, I forgot something... Something about the new ban types: Is it normal, when you set *** Rocko sets mode: +b ~q:*!*@space-1E30BBDB.g.pppool.de that the user is able to change the nicks? *** Parts: Heffer ([email protected]) (rejoining) *** Joins: Heffer ([email protected]) *** Heffer is now known as Heffer2 *** Heffer2 is now known as Heffer I am not sure, what the new ban types should do. Maybe it's ok so :P |
Oh btw... I crashed Unreal using the part, where I asked, if it is normal that I can change Nicks ;) I will open a new bug report ;P |
Yeah ~q is only "quiet" (see Changes or doc/unreal32docs.html ;p), so people are allowed to join, change nicks, etc.. but not able to speak (unless they have +v or higher). |
Why exactly is showing the host information useful? |
Does this crash bug on nick changes still affects ReleaseID (1.1.1.1.2.1.2.1.2.2050) ? |
- As expected, fixed a crashbug in extended bans system. Reported by Rocko (0001444). Nope, it's been fixed. |
Well, why is it usefull... Because it provide more information, about who set the host. OPs can use other idents/nicks/hosts temporarely. Look at "TOPIC_NUHOST".. why is that usefull? The same reason for this here ;) |
I don't think TOPIC_NUHOST is useful, so using that as an example doesn't prove anything to me. As you said, ops can use other nicks/idents/hosts, so how does showing the n!u@h solve anything? Your logic makes no sense. |
Yes, it makes. n!u@h identifies the ban/topic writer more then the nick only. You cannot change your host unless you're an oper or have multi accounts. I think it would be usefull. |
Uuuh... Sorry. Ever heard of jIRC? CGI:IRC? Proxies? It is ban evasion tactics... |
