Summary | 0002597: Feature to change the way channel modes +mu are handled.
Description | Currently, when a channel has modes +mu set, people can still talk. I am fine with this. However, it sends their messages from a nickname "IRC": <IRC> alex323: test I don't see why we can't have: <alex323> test instead. In addition, when a user (non-op) posts a message, they see this: * #channel :You need voice (+v) (#channel) Yet, they can still speak to ops at least.
Steps To Reproduce | /mode #channel +mu

I suppose the cannotsend message should be slightly changed (but not removed), perhaps something similar to 'your message has been sent to the ops'. About the <IRC> thing.. not sure.. I think that clarifies quite clearly that it's a special case.. I think it would also be wise to add a specific section to the docs about +mu and celebrity chat stuff, it would be quite educational for most people. (examples like bot/moderator having +o, the guest {"celebrity"} having +v, users no modes, blabla). |
|
The other thing is that when you change a user's modes, the change is echoed to everyone thus giving away a hidden user. |

"I suppose the cannotsend message should be slightly changed (but not removed), perhaps something similar to 'your message has been sent to the ops'." I think that should be done. "The other thing is that when you change a user's modes, the change is echoed to everyone thus giving away a hidden user." Hmm, only hide +-hv. |

ERR_CANNOTSENDCHAN shouldn't be sent here -- it indicates the message was not delivered at all. A different numeric should be used entirely, or perhaps just not sending one. |
|
+u has been removed, and thus along with it the +mu magic. |
