| Summary | 0003161: ircd giving me a weird error when I try to connect as well as other users. | ||||
| Description | Well, I don't think it's an Unreal 3.2.6 bug, bug Stskeeps asked me to report it anyway just to look into it. When I upgraded one of my ircd's to 3.2.6, I got an error like this: * Connect retry #6 66.252.28.187 (6667) - * [10053] Software caused connection abort As well as any other user that tries to connect. Sometimes the error will occur, sometimes it won't. I tried reverting to 3.2.5 but I'm oddly enough still getting the same error. Stskeeps asked me to include this in the bug report: Limiting open port RST response from 769 to 200 packets/sec | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Simply start the ircd and try connecting. | ||||
| 3rd party modules | |||||

Give some info: What OS (and specs of machine) also, are you running any third party modules? also, is your dns or firewall acting up previously? |
This also can be happened if you try to connect to ssl port in non-ssl mode (mIRC), or if you try to connect to serversonly port |
not an SSL issue, checked this - saw the listener and all. With telnet it basically looks like it opens the connection (and accepts), and as soon as you send data to it, it disconnects the user. The open connection does not appear in /trace or gets disconnected when /quote close |
No third party modules are running, dns/firewall hasn't been acting up as far as I know, and the OS is FreeBSD 5.5. |
This still seemed odd.. Does it still happen? |
Hm, quite old issue. Due to the oddness and due to what Stskeeps said (kernel log, and not appearing in trace and not closing with close) I'm kinda assuming it's not caused by Unreal but something.. else... also the kernel log makes me think it's some kind of attack? dunno. closing this one. |
