Summary | 0002955: Allow remote-queries for /MAP and /LINKS
Description | Per the RFC, certain server status commands like LINKS should accept parameters to request that a different server answer the query. Now, some of the commands mentioned there, UnrealIRCd does do so. Notably VERSION, MOTD, STATS, and TIME. LUSERS does, but doesn't seem to comply fully. It doesn't seem to allow limiting by server-mask for the counts. To be honest, I don't much care about that, even if it is potentially useful. I do care about LINKS, and even better if MAP (which is not in RFC2812) were to support this. then I could /map main-hub.network.tld, and get a more 'sane' looking map. It's all about perspective.
Additional Information | For users who are stumbling across this bugreport/feature-request, google for RFC1459, as well as RFC2812 (as well as RFC2810, RFC2811, and RFC2813)

The RFC2811-RFC2813 are widely unaccepted in the IRCd communitity as they were done in a closed manner without cooperation, only by the IRCnet developers. However, the idea sounds okay, but can't you basically make the map out yourself with the output you get? |
|
Sure, I can see the map either way. just some arrangements 'make more sense'. I won't say it's _really important_. But it would be convenient. And yeah, I'll admit, there were a couple cases when doing SurrealServices (not that I remember which ones atm) that I decided that 1459 was more relevant. Also, the LINKS command is the same in RFC1459 (section 4.3). Oddly, LUSERS is only mentioned in numerics, but not as a command. Possibly an oversight on their part. |
|
/ignore RFC* /map would be nice, I thought we already had a patch in the queue once, but maybe it got rejected due to other reasons (style, and such), I forgot. (nevermind about it ;p). Then I guess /links as well. I'll rename the bugreport a bit. EDIT: spelling |
|
Issue dropped for now. I realized RPL_MAP and those other numerics use 006 and such, that would mean for a remote server it would have to be mapped to 106... I'm not really in the mood for that crap. I'll leave it alone for now, it's not something I'll do quickly like now. (I've put asside remote links as well, even though that might go fine, I don't care) |

doesn't sound terribly useful. closing. |
