| Description | Whenever one of my users connects, his hostname is resolved as 'UNKNOWN.UNKNOWN.<various>.slip.uiuc.edu' where '<various>.slip.uiuc.edu' is the actual reverse resolution, with <various> replaced with whatever particular line he happened to connect to, of course. Further investigation led me to the fact that in the forward resolution records for '<various>.slip.uiuc.edu' include an HINFO resource record with "UNKNOWN" "UNKNOWN" in the text space. The HINFO record appears before the A record, and this is significant; if the A record appears first, the resolution occurs normally. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | I changed one of my own DNS records so that the first resource record is the HINFO, followed by the A record. I made sure the DNS records for this host had not been previously cached. The two text fields in the HINFO record ended up prepended to the proper host name. | ||||
| Additional Information | The server is compiled with both SSL and IPv6 support. The server is linked against the system-supplied name service libraries. | ||||

got IPv6 enabled? [oh yes you do.. sorry I'm blind] In either case, wether it's our or their fault.. this should be fixed in current CVS because I fixed a skipping-unknown-record-bug a week ago or something.
