| Summary | 0001068: ipv6 only works with ipv6 tunnel with ipstack spoofing off | ||||
| Description | I tried to get ipv6 to work but it would'nt until I took off ipstack protection from spoofing (1st config options in ./Config. | ||||
| 3rd party modules | |||||
Even then the ipv6 and ipv4 are really laggy and eventually die and no more connections can be made. When your try to oper up the process stays up but no connections can be made whatsoever. edited on: 06-24-03 12:16 |

I'm unable to reproduce anything you said. I compiled with spoof protection + ipv6, everything works just fine and also no stall on OPER or something. It's more likely a problem with your tunnel, they are not always that stable/fast :p. |

Hrm, thanks for the quick response, im using www.freenet6.net, what should my config look like for the listening part? listen [3ffe:b80:3:a533::d18b:e5f2]:6667 ; Thats what it looks like. Also does all ipv4 have to be done like so [::ffff:209.209.209.209] even olines? edited on: 06-24-03 22:30 |

I have basically done everything in the docs(limited) properly, ive used two different tunnels, my machines is in vancouver, bc and the tunnel broker is in quebec. Has anyone else sucesfully hosted the ipv6 ircd with a ipv6 tunnel? |
It's easy to check wether it's a network problem or not.. by connecting from the same machine for example (the one the ircd is running): -- telnet 3ffe:b80:3:a533::d18b:e5f2 6667 user x x x x x nick blah -- and see if you get connected (assuming your telnet thingy has ipv6 support). You can also ping with ping6 to the box to see if it has much delay or packet loss. Ofcoz the same is true for IPv4 problem tracing :P. |

I did that, I connected did some comands tried to oper up and everything was fine. I tried to connect through ipv4 join a channel tried to oper up, and it crashed. Also I cant seem to get debug to work, it shows this message. [ircd@ns2 bin]$ ./ircd -x 0 ./ircd: DEBUGMODE must be defined for -x y Thanks |
if it crashed you should run: -- gdb src/ircd name.of.your.core.file bt -- you can enable DEBUGMODE in include/config.h altough it prolly won't help you (FYI: it's not needed for core dumps / crash reports) |
I get no coredump, it just seems to die. |
then I'm unable to help :[. |
Another thing... does it crash every time (or pretty often) at /oper from ipv4 host? If so, could you send your configfile to [email protected] to let me try it here? FYI: there are multiple networks which use IPv6 without a problem, so maybe it's a configfile bug, or otherwise machine-specific.. that's what I want to find out :p. |
are you using services (to oper up)? If so, you could try latest CVS (http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIrcd/cvs/Unr3.2-20030626.tar.gz ), that might solve your /oper problem... but in that case it shouldn't be ipv6 specific ;p. |
Well I sent you my config. I oper up with the command oper <nick> <pass> The new cvs is a little bit better it does'nt timeout but it still dies. It crash's with ipv4 aswell. |

Didn't crash here, but I assume the following is your crash problem: Could you check the date of all your modules in your installed directory (not the Unreal3.2/src/modules one). The crash on /oper and stuff could be caused by mixing module versions (ie: some older modules [beta16?] are still left there). |
It seems to have worked, im sorry for wasting your time, thank you for your help. |
