| Summary | 0001088: [W] Random Crashes | ||||
| Description | ircd is running as a service on two sepperate windows 2000 servers. On first one , the wircd.exe stops responding and the service is set to auto restart. Event viewer has pages of the service has timed out waiting 3000 milleseconds and connot be stopped via services gui. Only way to get sto start again is to reboot server. server is also running Auspice 27 services ... Second server to try for comparison , installed as a service and not set to auto restart. Service randomly dies and event viewer says service has unexpectantly stopped responding. Only way to restart it is a hard reboot as well. Serrvices are remote to this server . Spoke with Syzop and told to put a dont-resolve in the set options in conf file. Will update with uptime , but usually lasts no longer then 3 or 4 days. Had simular issue with beta 16 as well , thus the reason for updating. | ||||

I have this problem as well. The processs wircd.exe uses 100% CPU and anyone who is connected stays connected, while those who try to connect get refused. I, however, am able to terminate it By stopping the process in services and once it hits about 80% it either ends the task or I'm able to end it in Task Manager, then restart the service and it works fine until it happens again. |

** Massclose of random windows crashes ** This is now explained at the bugs.unrealircd.org mainpage: Windows: there are multiple resolver bugs in the windows version which make it crash after a while.. usually after 1 or a few days. This is nothing new, that bug has been in windows versions for a looong time, if you want a stable ircd we suggest you to use *NIX. There's a workaround however: you can disable dns lookups for clients by putting the following in your unrealircd.conf: set { options { dont-resolve }; }; |
