Summary0001149: New Channel Mode
DescriptionWhen I see requests like this I quite often shake my said and say that it'll never get done. Let me give it a try though...

I've just had a look at a network who runs a modified unreal3.2-beta17 server which sports additional channel modes. Mainly they were rubbish but one did stick out and I thought it would be a good idea to implement in beta18.

They gave it the letter X and what it did was disallow Oper overrides in that channel. They made the mode a network administrators mode so nobody else could set it.

Was just something I thought many channels may like. Back me up if you like this :)

If you don't trust your opers, don't give them a o:line :p

useless mode since you can just remove the mode and then override anyway?

Good point. Still, it is an interesting channel mode. Thanks for your opinion muhQ. Any others?

/me fully agrees with _Scifi_. My points: 1. since can_override is set by configuration, it's a stable way for server owners to decide whether they want to allow overriding. To summarize, do you allow overriding or not? If somebody has the right to operoverride, then they shouldn't experience the opposite of it. 2. That flag (+X) would cause complaints to channel members. I think normal users owning a channel should have the right to decide whether they allow things like that (ie. +A and +O) in a channel. 3. +X is just another reason for using set::modes-on-join...
