| Description | I wanted to reply to a mailing list message with the topic "[Unreal-users] Local Shuns & Guest* nick behaviour", but somehow my mail was rejected. So asking my questions & reporting bugs here. We know that Shun is a kind of global ban, but the documentation doesn't prove it (7 - User & Oper Commands Table): "Prevents a user from executing ANY commands on the server, and prevents them from speaking. " It's really an inverse definition for 'global', since it only says "on the server". In addition, I like the idea of Local Shuns. The source code shows me there was a support for local shuns at a time (s_kline.c). Why has it been removed? Could be added back? Btw, a quote from file m_tkl.c in m_shun(): sendto_one(sptr, rpl_str(RPL_ENDOFSTATS), me.name, sptr->name, 'g'); Why does it use 'g' instead of 's'? | ||||

I don't understand the premise of having a local/global shun. Shuns aren't "global bans". They stop a client sending any command to the server (except a certain few commands, /admin etc). The command/action would never get as far as a remote server so I don't really have a clue what you're on about :p |

OK, well, you are right, but I can't use any servers while I'm shunned. If shuns were local bans, I could simply connect to another server and do things as nothing were happened. |

Docs updated in .1902. I don't remember the discussion which we (coders) had but at least this won't be changed at this time. |
