| Summary | 0001199: Whois replies | ||||
| Description | Something I found which didn't make much sense. If you type /whois <nick> and the nick is not online you are sent the following response: <nick> No such nick/channel - <nick> End of /WHOIS list. When you do an advanced whois (for lack of better word) by typing /whois <nick> <nick> you are given this reponse: No such server - No such server Just wondering if that's supposed to be like that... | ||||

It's because _I think_ originally such an advanced whois was like: whois server.where.person.is.at person (ie: whois irc.blah.net gaflag) and if you do 'whois gaflag gaflag' it will search for the server of gaflag which isn't found... blah.. fun isn't it? ;p. I'm used to it from ircnet ircd, but looks like at least the undernet ppl decided to change it :p. I prefer it this way since it's more clear that our server doesn't find the client, it didn't even query the remote server. Ah well, I'm just a bit conservative ;). |
