| Description | yes i take sys side webtvs r poop and suck lol, but we gotta cater for them just another 2 cents here, they cant see server notices ( or any notices ) at all for that matter :( erm, would it be possibel the server sends privmsgs instead? *runs now* .. Thanx hehehe | ||||

erm, sorry i didnt quite make that clear :O when they use a command such like Knock - OPed Webtv users dont see the acutall " knock " notice, and its the same story when they try to use a command to retrieve server information ( like stats / whois info / /who ) etc etc where normally in mirc the server leaves the results in the " status " window, webtvs dont seem to have that either. i really dont know if its possible to make the servers acutally privmsg and i feel it would be a lot of work for you guys. theres no rush for this ( if it is possible ) the results would just sovle basically 95% of the probs they can use all the server Usercmds no probs, they cant use the server however to retrieve information, and as far as webtvs look, privmsgs are the only way that they could see server information replies. |

I'm working on trying to add better webtv support to Unreal, problem is, as I'm sure you know, webtv is a piece of garbage :) |

rotflmao ohh yes, i know :/ From what i can see with webtvs and unreal, the first main problem they have is that, they dont see notices, so server -> webtv commacation is just nothing, yet webtvs can do all server commands. So the first n proberly worest problem is what i said above, try n make the server be set to relay information another way to the webtvs users. Something thats bopping around in my head at the moment is, when they connect to the server it does a version check ( as you have made already ) if its webtv, it auto sets Usermode +T - and maybe another Usermode in which tells tells the server to send messages to them in a different format other than notice? Dunno thats something that has been a little thought, Other than the commacation problems from the server to the user, theres acutally not a lot more they need. hope this helps :) |

Yes, I'm considering doing a version checking thing. Also note, Unreal has a umode (+V if I remember) that will translate most NOTICEs to PRIVMSGs it doesn't do it for all if I remember, like for /knock it won't, but if I type /notice webtvuser hi it will turn it into a privmsg. The biggest problem with using a version check is, WebTV seems to have a habit of not always replying to a CTCP. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't. |

okies, Ive tryed the umode +V and yes it changes the NOTICES into PRIVMSG. there is 1 problem....
