| Summary | 0001411: Loosing OPER functionality after changing nick to something else from the nick used for OPER (not OPER ID) | ||||
| Description | nick =! operid When I logon using a nick and do /oper operid operpass I get all the Oper modes and all the modes work fine... but after sometime (usually happens after 4mins), If I try to use any Oper Function i.e. kline, gline, kill etc. I get a messege sayinh "Permission Denied- You do not have the correct IRC operator privileges" After that if I do /oper again, it will say "You are now an IRC Operator" but it still won't let me use any Oper Functions. Only way to start again is to quit and reconnect. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Login using the same nick as your OperID 2. Oper yourself 3. Try /kline or /kill (---> it will work @ this point) 4. Change your nick to something else 5. Try /kline or /kill (---> it will again work) 6. Wait about 5-7 mins 7. Try /kline or /kill (---> it will NOT work) 8. Try /oper with the existing nick and check the messege... it should say "You are now an IRC Operator" 9. Now try /kline or /kill ....... and it will say "Permission Denied- You do not have the correct IRC operator privileges" 10. Now to get all your modes back... disconnect and reconnect to the server.... | ||||

I'm running Unreal beta19 used Beta18 and noticed the same problem! |

The case is most likely your Services package removing your Usermodes as something it is programmed to do, and only allow identified opers using their nick to hold a +o etc.. [But then the log doesn't seem to log that correctly? weird] Way to rule it out is to remove them for a while and run without them, see if it happens. My guess it won't Btw, I can't replicate this bug as i figured ... I can kill people >10 minutes after changing nick... and in 80% of the cases I login under a different opername than my nick, and never experienced this problem (I don't use services)... so.. yes, services sounds the correct direction to look :). |
