| Summary | 0001469: Unreal Ircd crash after /oper command is issued | ||||
| Description | The following appears in the log file when this bug occurs: [Sat Jan 3 21:14:32 2004] - [BUG] trying to add fd #-1 to 0x814e1c0 (0x814f1e0/0x814bb20/0x814aa00/0x814e1c0), range is 0..1024 Core is dumped in /usr/local/Unreal3.2 as core.<pid> | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Start unreal ircd on host machine. 2. Login with any client (BitchX, Xchat, Kvirc were used) 3. Issue /oper <nick> <password> command. Command is sucessful, server does not report any errors to client. 4. [BUG] Entry above appears in the log file. But ircd continues to run. 5. Issue /bye command. Client disconnects properly, again no errors. 6. Ircd no longer running, core is dumped in /usr/local/Unreal3.2 as core.<pid> | ||||

After you oper up, could you do '/module' and paste the output? You are probably upgrading and then experienced this bug? I think you are loading older modules then [had like 5-7 /oper crashes before and it was always this], best thing is to remove all the *.so files in /usr/local/<wheverever you store them> and recompile the ircd. Or compare file dates etc, whatever you like. |

Issue /bye command? Is this a module? Unreal has no "/bye" command. |
|
|
But clients may have, I know EPIC is one of them. (http://www.easynet.net.au/mirrors/newbie-u/irc/slash.html) |

Hmmm no response? Was I right? |

Sorry to keep you waiting. By strange coincidence the machine in question here just today suffered a massive hard drive failure. Beacuse I was using this box mainly for testing there was no backup, so I don't have the core dumps anymore or anything else for that matter. But, to answer syzop's question, it was a fresh compile with no previous version installed. I'm afaid I cannot give you the output of /module though (see above). However, after replacing the hard drive and reinstalling/upgrading the OS from Redhat 7.3 to Fedora Core 1, I recompiled Unreal and tried to reproduce the bug without success. So, whatever the cause, it's not a problem any more. Sorry about /bye, old habit with BitchX. Same as /quit. Thanks. |

Ok, most likely it was an installation- or a hardware-problem then :). |
