| Summary | 0001764: Able to kill +S users | ||||
| Description | IRCOps are able to kill users/services with the +S usermode where it was not possible to do so before. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | /kill NickServ You're a +S user, don't die! | ||||
| 3rd party modules | |||||
|
|
+S prevents kicking, not killing. |

>+S prevents kicking, not killing. It also gives a user-level U:Line, so that commands like :NickServ!services@services.* SVSNICK Bob Guest112233 1234567890 are possible, instead of having to use no prefix or the server name (:services.*) as the prefix. Obviously only U-Line'd servers can have "users" with +S. As for kicking, I thought this was what +q was for. In past versions of Unreal (and in which I was using auspice), I had kills rejected because I tried to target a BotServ bot (just for the fun of it), and it had +SqdB. (I could kick, triggering an override, but the kill was rejected, and the server even took away my +N flag!) *edit* It would send a numeric saying the kill was rejected, as well as an SNotice. Not to be saying the server is 100% responsible for this ;) since I haven't seen some of this behavior with Anope. Only the rejected kill, but no numeric/snotice and no losing +N flag. Wierd. */edit* edited on: 2004-04-28 13:38 |

Yeah, I realized after posting that it was Ultimate that prevents killing of +S users. Is it possible to expand +S to include the immunity from kills as well? I see no reason to want to kill an individual service, and it would be useful to allow a mode that prevented kills. Sorry about the previous confusion though. I also recommend that this be moved to feature now, since that is clearly the category it would fall under. Thanks for the help. edited on: 2004-04-28 15:26 |

But then, why also do you need to prevent the killing of a service...? |
|
|
aquanight: The Server doesn't take your +N flag, that is auspice services. And there we are at the second point: You can only kill +S users, with the +N flag (Net Admin) Otherwise, it will say, the user is protected, and you can't kill the user. This Bug Report could be closed I think ;) |

>aquanight: The Server doesn't take your +N flag, that is auspice services. Yeah, that's what I meant... (the services do act as a "server" so maybe that's why I said Server :roll: ), cuz if it was the server's doing it would have shown right away ;) but it took a /mode $me to see this happen. |

...which means its a nice case of svsmode. as opposed to svs2mode... I'd really like to know why there are two, and svsmode not reporting the modechange to me seems stupid. Means clients get out of synch in their display of modes. |

Sorry about those multiple posts, if anyone recieved emails because of it... the postbox stuffed up, and posted it 3 times :/ |

>I'd really like to know why there are two, and svsmode not reporting the >modechange to me seems stupid. Means clients get out of synch in their >display of modes. Do you really need to tell users about something like NickServ setting +r on you? The users already see: -NickServ- Password accepted blahblahblah That's usually enough for most people. If they really need to know they are registered, they can just refresh their modes by hand. |
