| Summary | 0001942: Server desync (?) | ||||
| Description | Basically, this happened when me (an operator) and a friend (owner) was playing around with services in our channel. My friend changed nick and gave me his password. I logged in as him and got +q (Owner). Then I changed nick back and identified to services. I still had +q (Owner). Just then, another friend of mine, who is an operator on the server, joined the channel. I then kicked him for fun and set mode -q on myself when he had rejoined. Then he decided to play along and set +m on the channel. I was wondering why he did that, because I still saw myself as +o. He was quite amazed when I started talking without op/voice (in his eyes). Basically, I think he was desynced. We tested this many times by repeating the same steps, with different IRC clients. It happened on all of them. So I concluded it was a server side problem. We are running Anope IRC services. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | This is how I encountered it. 1. Owner of channel changes nick 2. You identify to services as owner 3. You get mode +q in channel 4. you change nick back to your original nick 5. A user joins the channel 6. You set mode -q on yourself 7. The user who just joined will now see you as a normal user, while the others (including yourself) will see you as a channel operator. | ||||
