Summary0001971: nick collisions from svsnick -> desync
DescriptionI played a little around with my services (anope)

debug: Sent: SVSNICK test DukePyrolator :1090042101

if the user "DukePyrolator" exists, this produce a nice quit message:

*** Notice -- Client exiting: test ([email protected]) [Nickname collision due to Services enforced nickname change, your nick was overruled]

The problem is, this quit is not sent to the services server. So the services gets desynced.

if (find_client(parv[2], NULL)) /* Collision */
       return exit_client(cptr, acptr, sptr,
       "Nickname collision due to Services enforced "
       "nickname change, your nick was overruled");

why the client is killed ? why not returning 0 (do nothing) ?

Question:

1) were you using the raw command to send the SVSNICK ?

This is most likely a services problem i think, as it shouldn't change to a clien t to a nick that is in use anyway.

1) I used no RAW, I'm writing a module. But how the SVSNICK is send is not the point of this bug report. So please no discussion about this. :-)

3) I'm a little confused:
when a SVSNICK is sent, the server will return a NICK message if successful, but no message if the user is killed

correct:
   -> debug: Sent: SVSNICK test Gast51644 :1090051766
   -> debug: Received: :test NICK Gast51644 :1090051766

not correct:
    -> debug: Sent: SVSNICK test DukePyrolator :1090051801
    -> "test" is killed because of a nick collision but there is no message sent to the services

if user_exists(new_nick)
delete_user(new_nick)

There is no reason to send the Kill message. It would just waste bandwidth. You can detect that a user disconnected yourself.
