Ok, this is now at least the third bug you've reported where you give us NO information. We can't solve problems if you don't give us information!
The ircd will quit resolving hostnames therefor screweing everything up.
1.) Are you sure the hostname in question does resolve? 2.) What is your set::dns 3.) Are the nameservers listed in /etc/resolv.conf working? E.g., if you use nslookup to query the hostname from the first server listed in /etc/resolv.conf, does it work? And by the way, I've never heard anyone report this before, so if people are experiencing this as often as you make it sound, I would assume someone would have told us by now. |

{ nameserver 127.0.0.1; timeout 2s; retries 2;dns }; and what happens is the server will fail to resolve hostnames and use ip's upon connection. [10:52] *** Joins: HollyW00d- () I have not been experiencing this problem before ... its now all of a sudden happening. I have restarted the server and i have just previously reinstalled it. (Yet to know if that fixed it) |

Ok, well I asked you three questions, you answered 1 of them. And, not only that, your answer contains a bug. "retries 2;dns" that "dns" should not be there. But anyway, please answer my other two questions 1.) Are you sure the hostname in question does resolve? 2.) Are the nameservers listed in /etc/resolv.conf working? E.g., if you use nslookup to query the hostname from the first server listed in /etc/resolv.conf, does it work? |
the ;dns is what is in the conf |
ok fixed the dns part on that ... maybe that was the problem |
1.) You still did not answer my other two questions 2.) Yes I know it's in the config file, I'm saying it should NOT be. |
code it seems the entire nameserver area was screwed up. I have fixed it to the way it should be so i am guessing that is probly what it was. You can delete this bug report and i will get back up with if there are any furthur problems. Thank You |

I've had that problem before but it was due to DDoS. I have not seen the IRCd just refuse to resolve hostnames (unless you have resolution disabled). |
