How would this be different from a Local Oper? |

I think this idea is not that bad... personally, I would go even further: the oper-block config offers theoretically many combinations, but many flags includes other ones automatically which limits those possibilities. (as here +A for example automatically includes global-op etc.) if this presets are removed, the oper-blocks can be more "fine-tuned" than now and offer different settings. |

I concur. Why not have something like pre_serveradmin for the presets? |

I believe something similar was asked for earlier (I actually remember submitting the report ;p) but it didn't go anywhere. |

As far as i remember, You can specify individual operflags in the old way, but I'm not really sure. Thus You would be able to simply specify the 'A' without 'o'. Quote from the doc: The oper::flags directive has two formats. If you wish to use the old style oper flags i.e., OAa, you use the flags <flags> method, if you want to use the new style,i.e., services-admin, then you use the flags { <flag>; } method. Below is a list of all the flags (in both formats) and what they do. Give it a try... |

I don't think *I* will do this, but.. even if it gets added since it's a LOCAL admin it will not have GLOBAL privileges, so what exactly does it add? (like: name a few cmds / cases where it's useful). Sorry I'm too bored to look it up ;p. |

It adds the title of "Server Administrator". After all, that's what we are.. we arn't local ircops. |

So you are suggesting something that just adds some pretty title to your /whois? What's the point? If you want something that says "Server Administrator" add the admin flag to the person's oper block. If you don't want the oper to have global permissions, but still want the whois to say "Server Administrator" because he/she has access to the conf is pointless. If the person has access to the conf, what is stopping them from adding global flags to their oper block? |

I'm afraid this won't be done :P. Local oper is bad enough... ;p |
