Summary0002754: New banned nick features not working with extended bans
DescriptionI've noticed that the new banned nick features (can't change to a banned nick, banned users can't change topic) don't work with the extended bans. I'm not sure whether or not this is by design, but I'm reporting it anyway just in case it is an issue.

Could you give an example?

Of course if there's a +b ~q:NewNick!*@* and someone changes from OldNick to NewNick it is permitted, because it's a speak-only-ban.
and ~c/~r.. well.. they are not related.. ;p
what else do we have hmm...
+b ~n:NewNick!*@*
_that_ one should mean OldNick -> NewNick is not allowed, do you get that result?

Good.

Ron2K: any specific bans you thought should have applied in certain cases? Or are ok with the explanation from above?

I'm fine with the explanation.

EDIT: Still think that they shouldn't be able to change the topic, but I suppose that one's up for debate :)

I still don't understand what you mean... all bans that prevent speaking are also enforced when disallowing a topic change, so for example if you are +b ~c'd (eg: after you joined) you can not change the topic, same for ~r, and even ~q because that just felt logical (no speak.. no topic..)
Now of course ~n does not disallow you from changing the topic, but it does not disallow you from speaking either.

So I don't see your point, could you elaborate?

I need to agree with syzop about the no steak no topic thing. If a user can't speak, and the channel is -t, what is to prevent him/her from turning lamer on us and changing to topic to what s/he wants to say?

OK, I think I understand now - you can close this :)
