| Summary | 0003090: Bans check against previous hosts | ||||
| Description | This is mostly for issues with banning a vhost and users removing their vhost or setting -x. It would be helpful if for bans the ircd checked against a users previous hostmasks. Therefore, if i user has the hostmask @owine.user.network and someone sets +b *!*@owine.user.network, even if I set -x to remove my vhost and just use my bare ip, the ircd would know that I had that hostmask this connect session and would see me as banned even under my current host. This would be a valuable feature. Thanks! | ||||

would require a per-user list of previous vhosts. and personally, I don't think this would be very useful. you're attempting a technical solution to a social problem, wherein users keep switching vhosts to get around bans. the better solution, in my opinion, is to not allow people to have any vhost they want, or switch so often. then again, this attitude seems unpopular among many users of UnrealIRCd-based networks. |
