Summary0004134: [Feature Request:] ACCOUNT-WATCH
DescriptionBasically this feature should have the same function as WATCH (and /notify on mirc).

Currently the "account-notify" feature in 3.2.10-rc1 has parts of what I have queried in the forums. (see: http://forums.unrealircd.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7648)

Only difference is, "account-notify" feature does not allow users to choose who do they want to be notified and this feature seems to be restricted to only clients on the same channels.

I still need feedback on this feature request though. Do share your thoughts.

Do you mean that you want to receive ACCOUNT verbs for users on your watch list if you have the account-notify extension enabled?

If so, I'll write up a quick patch so we can get it into 3.2.10.

Err sorry I forgot to add more details on my feature request.

Currently "watch" can only be applied to nicknames where "the server will send you a message when any nickname in your watch list logs on or off."
I want "watch" to do the same thing for account names.

By the way, what does "ACCOUNT verbs" suppose to mean?

One of the ways I can think of to implement my idea is to have an extended feature for WATCH.

example:

/watch [nickname] - for normal watch (the server will send you a message when any nickname on your watch list logs on or off
/watch -a [accountname] - for extended watch (the server will send you a message when any accountname on your watch list logs on or off

The ircd should not be confused if a user queries a nickname or an accoutname.

Another way is to add a new command:

/awatch [accountname]

Oh, I see.

So you want to be able to get watch messages for when the accountname changes. Sounds doable.

Yes. This feature will be a blend of WATCH and ACCOUNT-NOTIFY.

I would like to hold off on implementing this until after the IRCv3 WG meeting on November 7, as WATCH vs. MONITOR is being decided then.

I don't think this will be done anymore in WATCH, so can just as well close this.
