I think your client is sending the characters as UTF8. I have that too when I use mIRC. The issue does not occur if I really send ß as ASCII character 223 on a raw netcat/telnet connection. You can also test this in mIRC by unticking the box "UTF-8 encode/decode messages" in mIRC options and then under IRC -> Messages. In that respect, no change between 3.2.x and 4.x. Not saying it's ideal :) |
