| Summary | 0000761: Reopen bug 0000753 system stops responding on /rehash | ||||
| Description | Unreal3.2beta14 stops responding and crashes after multiple ./unreal rehash's | ||||
| Additional Information | My change is: the system is using RedHat 7.2 on kernel 2.4.18-24.7.x, I installed the latest CVS, there is no core dump it just stops responding and requires a hard kill. I have noticed this in past betas also but never really gave it any concern. Quote "MULTIPLE Local or remote /rehash's cause the IRCd to stop responding and the server will eventually crash. You need to kill process and restart Unreal to correct. Testing of this problem appears to be limited to Red Hat 8.0 (not 100% sure on that thou" orginal post | ||||

* Which "latest CVS"? (type /info and paste the ReleaseID) * Which modules do you have loaded? |

Loaded modules are commands.so scan.so scan_socks.so invisibility.so I downloaded the CVS by using: cvs -z3 -d :pserver:[email protected]:/home/cmunk/ircsystems/cvsroot co -r beta -d Unreal unreal As soon as I saw your post today. edited on: 03-02 22:37 |

How did you download the CVS version? You have to do (devel~~~): cvs -d :pserver:[email protected]:/home/cmunk/ircsystems/cvsroot login cvs -d :pserver:[email protected]:/home/cmunk/ircsystems/cvsroot co -r devel -d Unreal unreal or download the latest (the one at the top) from: http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIrcd/cvs/?M=D Anyway, beta15 will be released tomorrow. |

Can you check if it's solved when you remove the scanner modules? (and comment out the set::scan block).. |
That appears to resolve the issue. With scan running I can rehash maybe 2 times and sometimes not even that before the system locks up. also, if the system has been running a while 1 rehash is the limt before a lockup. I keep saying crash but it is not crashing it is just not responding to anything except a HAMMER. When I removed the scanner modules it worked as advertised. edited on: 03-03 00:08 |

Can you attach your configfile with link&oper blocks removed (and cloak keys set to xxx or something), I would like to try if I can reproduce it here. It won't be fixed in beta15, but.. :P [woops, editted ;P] edited on: 03-03 00:11 |

Files uploaded I hope you understood what I said in my last post. When I removed the scan modules as you said the server worked fine and did not lock up. |
[Yep sorry I somehow didn't understood it the first time, therefore the edit ;).] k, I'm unable to reproduce your problem here. Even while 200 clones are connecting and I'm doing XX rehashes/sec. So a few questions again ;P. * Do you really load the invisible module or do you get a warning like "cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" (invisibility is removed and since modules of b14 are _binary_ incompatible with cvs/b15 it can _and will_ fuck things up). * Can you do the following (a trace attempt :P) from your UnrealIrcd dir and paste it here: -- gdb src/ircd `cat ircd.pid` bt -- Thanks. |
Oh with that trace attempt I mean: do those commands when it's hanging (doesnt respond) ;). |
[no longer working on this bug] |
Will do, I havent ran the trace yet while the server is hanging. I will do it later.. I think I pissed off a lot of chatters yesterday making it hang all afternoon. |

Bug was scanner module related, since the build-in scanner has been removed in beta16 (use BOPM instead) this bug is now solved ;p. |
