| Summary | 0000765: Suggestions, minor bug reports | ||||
| Description | 1. A bugreport Syzop: I can't talk to you in other way, but you didn't response to my question in my last bugreport, when I asked "By the way, /chgident doesn't allow '~' in the first character. Is it a normal behaviour?" mar 03 19:51:38 <AngryWolf> because /setident ~wolf is simply allowed, while /chgident AngryWolf ~wolf is not mar 03 19:52:47 <AngryWolf> any ideas? 2. A suggestion mar 03 19:55:15 <AngryWolf> and what about a suggestion to make a function like legalident() :) (hoping it would be much easier and no duplicate code... well for speed is bad,because of a function call) mar 03 19:57:52 <AngryWolf> Stskeeps: well, even if you don't agree, pls, let me know :) i'ld be happier mar 03 19:58:36 <Stskeeps> i agree mar 03 19:58:44 <Stskeeps> brb mar 03 19:58:48 <AngryWolf> ok, thanks :) Now asking you. (What do you think?) :) And the same for checking for hostname validity. 3. A feature request <rich> how do i see how much bandiwth my IRCd has used? > hmmm....there is something in /stats <rich> yeah, i couldn't find out what > me either <rich> anyone else alive? > hmmm, /stats T? > *** bytes sent 92557.959K 2533.731K > *** bytes recv 28335.845K 5436.273K <rich> AngryWolf, thanks <rich> AngryWolf, it helps a lot, i need to work out the K to mb but other than that its all +good, cheers <rich> AngryWolf: cept..why does it have the listning twice? Hm, yes, I agree, most ppl don't know which is for server and clients. | ||||

Oh, I forgot something to tell in my third paragraph: "i need to work out the K to mb but other than that its all" --> just to make it more readable, i suggest you to make a similar function as pretty_time_val for that problem, it would help a lot. :) edited on: 03-03 21:04 |

* Changed title since it's too late for beta15. * Please don't address stuff specificly to me. I won't have much time anymore for UnrealIrcd after this beta15 release. * FYI: 1 or 2 days before release one should try not to touch anything since if you make 1 mistake you are dead. So only the major /setident bug was fixed (since there's an option to let users control that it was dangerous), and not the /chghost. That and all those other bugs/feature requests etc are for after b15. * End of response. |

Okay, no problem, and sorry for disturbing you. I purpose these reports particularly for the next release :) Hoping that somebody will read them. |

Another suggestion (I didn't want to create a new report for it): I can't see the purpose for the following definitions/variables in the ./Config script (also in setup.h.in) since they aren't used in Unreal3.2: CRYPT_OPER_PASSWORD CRYPT_LINK_PASSWORD CRYPT_ILINE_PASSWORD CRYPT_XLINE_PASSWORD I suggest to remove them. edited on: 03-05 05:56 |

I can't see throttling documented in unreal32docs.html. It is already documented in .RELEASE.NOTES which points to config.h, but it doesn't answer for the following question I saw on #unreal-support today: <hoosie> in the config.h .. is the throttling period in seconds or minutes? |
Now that question about throttling period is expired (set::throttle::period in latest cvs). |
But now there is another one: ---- set::throttle::period {time} How long a user must wait before reconnecting. ---- What about telling what the default value is? |
Ok let me address as many of these as I can. All times are assumed to be "time values". This means you can specify it however you want. "1 minute 2 seconds" "3 hours 4minutes 3s", "30", "3days1minute4hours3" etc, etc. The default value is 15, I'm not documenting this because I really don't want a default value. The only reason I made a default value is so people don't complain that it worked in b15 but not in b16. As for the /stats T, it's not my fault if they can't read Client Server connected 199 26 bytes sent 229746.239K 827553.529K bytes recv 6967.521K 607577.863K Note the "Client Server" therefore, first column refers to clients, seconds refers to servers. As for throttling docs, keep in mind, throttling is NOT complete yet. We recommend against using it, therefore why document when at this time you don't think people should use it? |

Okay, I merely wanted a better readable form for size values (amount of data). What you are speaking about is config_checkval(..., CFG_TIME). Default value: i know what is it, but not all other Unreal users. If you don't want this, then it means throttling will be 'disabled' if I don't specify a value for set::throttle::period in the configuration, doesn't it? Why to document? Just because I can see it mentioned in .RELEASE.NOTES :) * If you want throttling protection, read include/config.h But I agree with you. |

Ok, the CRYPT_* stuff is removed in .1733 and the /chgident thing is also fixed. As for the /stats T, I would change it, but seeing as how every other IRCd I checked does it the same way, it is possible that clients rely on it having a specific format. And for the legalident thing, it's not a bad idea, but I don't want to implement it just yet... |
