| Summary | 0000889: Latest CVS crashes when linking... | ||||
| Description | Hey sysop, i upgraded Unrealb15 to the latest CVS per your advice to address 2 possible bugs causing crashes + sjoin error. I installed it on all 3 of my servers(not run them yet) and waited for them to crash on their own if they did, before trying to new CVS. The other night, lost connectivity briefly on one so used that opportunity to fire up the CVS. Worked fine. Tonight, i decided to update another one to the latest CVS as well, just for the sake of it in a planned update. When i linked it, it would cause the other CVS server to crash - and vice versa. I had to revert to the normal UnrealBeta15. Seemed no matter what I did, i could not link 2 of the CVS servers. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | after 5 minutes of this ( over 5 crashes upon link), i just reverted to the previoys. to reproduce, simple link a CVS server with another CVS with zip and ssl enabled | ||||
| Additional Information | no logout put, just crashed. besides the error log, where else is information for unreal crashes produced? thanks | ||||

If you read the bugs.unrealircd.org mainpage it tells you exactly how to get information about a crash. |

i had read that, but whenever i try i just get "no file or directory" paste: [myuser@server:~/cvs/Unreal]$ gdb src/ircd core.file GNU gdb 4.18 (FreeBSD) Copyright 1998 Free Software Foundation, Inc. GDB is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License, and you are welcome to change it and/or distribute copies of it under certain conditions. Type "show copying" to see the conditions. You don't actually use core.file, you use whatever core file is located in the Unreal directory (try a ls *core*). And even if that was the correct file, you still didn't do what it asks, it tells you after gdb has loaded to then type bt. |

Hm, my mantis email notification was f*cked up, now switched to other mail addr.. Anyway, can you do like codemastr said, so: gdb src/ircd <name of core file here> probably called just called 'core' on Linux and 'core.somenumber' at freebsd. I tried to reproduce it here, but it didn't crash (also tried with 200 clones flooding and linking multiple times etc)... Oh and, what's your openssl version? |
|
|
You can also mail the core file AND ircd binary (src/ircd) of the Linux crash to me at [email protected] |

sorry for not responding in so long... i didn't have any core output ( don't know why). But this can be closed (thanks) and i'm going to try the latest cvs whenever i have the chance/need to restart a server. |
