| Summary | 0000892: Server worked fine till I put on a Router. Now it doesnt want to start......... | ||||
| Description | When I start the server it says everything went fine but it doesnt start.. it just stops.. it used to work 100% fine.. but the other day I stuck on a router cause I have only 3 ips and 5 systems... and it started to do this when I put the router on.. is there a setting I can do to find out whats causing this problem or could it be a ip setting or what? I got services on that same system and I just pointed them to connect to another ircd server on a difrent system thats not on a router and it connected.. so it cant be the router I have that system open wide for all connection.. I tried to do ./ircd -x 100 and needs debugmode enabled.. but I dont know how to do that.. I have even recompiled the source 3 times and still no good.. any help would be great.. I just want to get it started thats all.. and the Current logfile dont tell me enough nfo to know whats going on.. I just want to see whats causing it to not start up and connect to my other servers.. Mike.. | ||||

btw, I have 3 systems on this Router and they all work.. and everything else I have attached on that system runs perfect even the webserver and all.. so its not a IP router problem... its gota be something I need to change in the config or recompile with something.. i dont have any clue.. thanks..... Mike. |

My guess would be, you are trying to bind to the global ip. You want to bind to the machine's local IP, and then enable port forwarding in your router. |

> and the Current logfile dont tell me enough nfo to know whats going on.. You mean, it puts something in the log when it doesn't start? If so, it would help if you paste it here ;). |
No it doesnt put anything in the logfile.. thats what I ment.. it would help if it did... but I think your right what you said.. so ill try that and see.. ill post back if it helps.. anyways thanks for your help..... im sure that your right about the bind to global ip insted of the machines ip.. I didnt even think of that........ Mike. |

Only reason I thought of it was I did the same thing and spent about 10 hours screaming at my PC wondering why it didn't work :P If it helps, let me know. |

If you still haven't fixed this, then you can mail the output of the following command to [email protected] : strace -o blah.log src/ircd -F (and then attach blah.log) |
Did you try opening the ports on the router, it blocks all open ports until open. |
if he specified the wrong ip it should give something like cannot assign requested address, and if he blocked the ports at the router then it should still boot :P. So I wonder what the problem is... |
OK problem Fixed.. it was the IP problem.. I didnt change all the ips when I put a router on.. Ok Stupid me.. but anyhow its all fixed now.. thanks for all your help guys.......... MIke.. |
