| Summary | 0000903: Big CPU usage for ALL servers ! | ||||
| Description | All our servers has this problem. Due to bots, they flood our servers of connections (they are banned), unreal has a big CPU usage like 60%, 70%, 97% ! Unreal don't like flood connections :/ We had also this problem with Unreal3.1.3-Komara but it's bigger with the last version. All unreal servers has a big cpu usage for "ircd" we are in dedicated servers for each server but some isp will want to delink due to this problem. Can you fix it? It's a big problem for us ! There is debian, slackware, freebsd servers but the problem is here! | ||||

Rmhh... Sorry I'm tired, I don't know if you understood me well... We are a big french network. We use unreal3.1.5.1 since 9:00am (cet). With 3.1.3 there was a bug with unreal who use lot of cpu (like 40%, sometime 60%), we think it's due to a flood of connections from bots, but they are banned so we don't see them. In the new version (3.1.5.1), the problem is bigger, ALL servers go up to 50%, +60% and there is one I see to 97% ! There is differents OS so it's not a compatibility problem. Look the screenshot for a part of "top" command. Unreal seems to badly manage the connections... :/ modifié le : 04-18-03 20:37 |

Hi, this might not be the answer you want to hear, but... In Unreal 3.2beta15 a lot of CPU ussage improvements have been done, also throttling has been introduced to limit connections from an IP to <conns> in <time> seconds. I don't know if you can, want or am able to upgrade to 3.2, but if so, please use this version: http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIrcd/cvs/Unr3.2-20030419.tar.gz I say this because it's unlikely 3.1.* will be fixed (soon) in respect to CPU usage / adding new features to it. |

Ho god :/ Any patch for just fix the CPU problem in Unreal3.1.5.1 ? Because I said we are a not a small network and we need a stable version not a "beta" :/ I just received a msg form our coder, he said he found the bug about the cpu problem. I don't have more informations at this time... modifié le : 04-19-03 10:16 |

It's seems to be a bug with GCC (2.95.x). We removed all flags during compile and only used -O3 and it's ok on our test network... To be continued |
