Hi, - any special changes in config.h, or custom changes in other .c/.h files (like nicklength)? - if this is mIRC, can you type /debug @debug.. and as soon as it happends again paste the output from the @debug window here? (so we can see the "raw data"). - what compiler version (type: gcc -v)? - got services or other servers linked? - got any servers on other machines? do they give this problem too? do you see any pattern (which server [source/dest], timing, etc? |
I have no need to touch anything outside of normal configuration... ./Config/make... then write config files... I'm running the /debug... * FileS,rã[email protected] sets mode: +o netw3rkd[offline] gcc version 3.2 20020903 (Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7) got servers/stats/services/ all running 3.2, NeoStats/ auspice this problem is services wide.... |

I still don't understand what these pastes are... Is this the direct stuff? Or is this 2nd hand, like befcake experienced it and is pasting it to you? It's very confusing this way.. ;P |
It doesn't seem like anything is wrong to me. <- :[email protected] PRIVMSG #netw3rk :<[email protected]> i wanna help ^ Everything from here till the end was typed by the user, not by the server. So whats the problem? Would you be able to give us the address of your server so we can see this ourselves? |
my server is hub.webworkadmin.com | Like I posted before, it happens randomly, and you would have to be in an active channel. A few channels are #8989, #netw3rk, and #webworkadmin... Basically the problem is at times when users post a message the server spits out some weird text | * FileS,rãsdream@fileserv | instead of | <FileServ>... when I posted, a few of the errors I saw myself, and others users sent me. |
ok I'll idle a bit over there in X channels with a debugwindow open... |
So you have throttling disabled? demonstration of crap: <- :[email protected] PRIVMSG #garbage :xxPAD[16:04:06]aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,¸Â¿Ãˆaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa while I really sent all a's (correctly shown at sender's screen). |

it happends every 30-60m at hub.webworkadmin.com, but doesn't happen (within 2.5h) at bongwater.webworkadmin.com. bongwater.webworkadmin.com (7) 6 `-hub.webworkadmin.com (29) 1 |-stats.webworkadmin.com (4) `-services.webworkadmin.com (31) 90 End of /MAP so... [ofcoz messages from hub -> bongwater could get corrupted, but not bongwater->bongwater] |
I assume it has something to do with that box, especially since we have never heard of it before... Ofcoz the possibility of a software error is still there, but I have no idea how to trace this since I can't reproduce it here... There have been lots of ppl with the same setup as you I think, so.. weird.. |
One thing you could do to help us is to restart all servers and link services/stats to another server (not the hub which is causing problems) and see if the problem now moves to that other server. If the other server (bongwater) then gets problems it has something to do with stats/services, otherwise it's highly like it has something to do with the box (hub). |
Well as I said in #unreal-support, someone reported this a long time ago. But it later turned out to be a problem with his router configuration and had nothing to do with Unreal at all. |
In that case, could you also enable SSL (and open up a SSL port)? That would guarantee data isn't corrupted (unless you have router with automatic 0day SSL decryption/re-encryption). |
Update next week to beta16 and see if it helps. |
