| Description | hi, in unreal is an option ban version, to config u can ban any script version, ircd uses "ctcp to nickname version" to find out what is the mirc script version, but some of script dont tell version on ctcp nick version, is there anyposible to add newfeauture like ban version { mask some lame script; ctcp version; ctcp ping; ctcp finger; ctcp time; reason i dont like that script; }; | ||||

I don't see the need, true certain ones may send it. But others may send it on a ctcp USERINFO, or some custom 'ctcp' type eg MONKEYBRAINS ... or it may not send ctcp's at all... it may respond to msg ... But there is only so much that should be done imho.. |

I find it pretty stupid too.. to send like X ctcps on connect. Perhaps some will even excess flood, but besides that... it's just.. insane! ;) |

Problems with this: #1 Most clients have CTCP flood protection. If, for example, the server were to send all those CTCPs to an mIRC user, mIRC would ignore some of them. #2 As praetorian said, there might be 100+ CTCPs you'd have to do. #3 As syzop said, it's possible some of those CTCPs generate multi-line replies. That leads to the possibility that the server will think the user is flooding when it responds. #4 Why exactly would you ever want to ban based on a PING response? ban ping { mask "2 secs"; reason "You're too slow"; }; What's the point of that? Anyway, Unreal does listen for more than just a VERSION. Numerous scripts out there send back a SCRIPT ctcp. Unreal will also apply a ban version {} to any SCRIPT ctcps. |
