| Summary | 0001887: Remote MOTDs | ||||
| Description | I believe I mentioned this before, but just thought I'd bring it up again lest it be forgotten. The remote includes feature could be added to by making it possible to use a remote ircd.motd file as well as the rest of the MOTD files. This would be useful if all servers were to display the same MOTD. We could simply have it in one location and edit it there rather than editing it on each server. I believe the easiest way about setting this up would be to have a motd block in the config file. Something like this: motd { ircdmotd "http://site.com/ircd.motd"; botmotd "http://www.site.com/bot.motd"; [...] } Of course, if one wished to disable remote MOTD file includes, they could either set the "ircdmotd" directive above to "ircd.motd" (excluding the URL). One could also not include or comment out the motd {} block. This would tell the IRCd to look in the Unreal directory for the MOTD files. | ||||
